FileMaker recently added charting functionality to the product line. However, sometimes very customized charts are required.
We recently came across a requirement where we needed to create customized “Growth Charts” using data stored in a FileMaker database.
Since the charts were very customized and must be printed in a specified format, we decided to recreate the charts using php, then display them in a Web Viewer on the same layout as the data.
We then used FileMaker Web Publishing to extract custom XML data to display as plot points on the graph.
Because the chart uses XML data and parses data using php, no plug ins were needed to generate the graph. This meant that the graphs can be accessed via iPad using FileMaker Go.
Users within their specific session can choose which graphs and data sets they want to work with and will not interrupt the sessions of the other users of the system.
